To say it's been dark times for the land of Hyrule wouldn't be able to express the truth. After the exposure of a heinous act done by a chosen hero of long ago, the Yiga clan has gained drastic numbers in their cult following of Ganon and hatred of the Hero as well as the Royal family. It has split from Hyrule as an unofficial kingdom. And they've been in a cold war for the past hundred years.
Liera the daughter of a powerful Yiga general is in grief of the disappearance of her twin brother after he was sent to spy on the royal family. Refusing to consider him dead she embarks on a journey across Hyrule to find her brother and atempt the goal of her people.
To find and slay the new Hero of Hyrule as the new century marks his return.

The surface was supposed to be safe again with Demise defeated, however, its anything but. In the shadows of the uninhabited land lurk rebel Sheikah, who call themselves the Dark Interlopers, who plot against Hylia's human reincarnation, Zelda, and her loyal hero, Link, in secret, building up power to take them both down. Around the same time, Link and Zelda come across a land parallel to the surface, a strange country called Termina, protected by the goddess Terminus. Terminus begs them to help her subdue the mighty Fierce Deity, who was once the goddess's hero before he was corrupted by the demon Majora. Link fights the Deity and defeats him, but he is wounded in the battle and filled with the demon's corruption himself. As he and Zelda return to their own land, the hero slowly starts losing himself mentally and physically, ultimately putting Zelda's life in danger as he tries to fight against something he cannot control. To make matters worse, the Dark Interlopers soon launch a massive attack against the two of them, capturing Zelda and leaving Link for dead. He is found and saved by the mysterious Sheik, the leader of the Sheikah who are still loyal to Hylia. With both the surface and the sky in great danger, the hero must fight to save them and the goddess once more, all while fighting the corruption that he is falling ever deeper into.
