This is the story of one destroyer and the men who served on her.
When HMS Apache’s Captain is killed, a reluctant First Lieutenant must take command of the Tribal Class destroyer. Lieutenant Commander Michael Sinclair feels the weight of leadership and is painfully aware that the lives of his men depend upon his decisions. With a damaged ship and inexperienced officers, he is torn between his duty to the Royal Navy and the safety of his men as he sails to the ferocious battle for Narvik.
There is no rest for his exhausted crew as a new and deadlier mission is given by the secretive Captain Munroe. Sinclair, distrusted by his superiors and misinformed by the Admiralty, must sail into the Arctic searching for a prize that could alter the war. As he battles to keep his humanity, HMS Apache must meet her fate in the frozen waters where a pitiless enemy awaits her.

However, her views are tampered with as she is kidnapped and pulled into the lifestyle of pirates where she is exposed to the class discriminations, the poverty, magic and the raw power that people, especially women, can have when driven and determined.
