She and fourteen other girls got kidnapped and brought to an isolated island to participate in winning the son of the kidnapper's hand. Claire Mitchell isn't hand-picked by the father, she was the one selected by the one to win. She is named as the Wild Card and has different obligations and expectations to fulfill.
