The snow had just finished melting, and it was looking like it was going to be a good year. However, there was a storm on the horizon, and it wasn't a typical spring shower. 

"With a lunge, the thing on the ground sunk its teeth into her leg, the only place it could reach. I watched in terror as the men quickly dropped her, turned, and ran. My mouth opened and a scream slipped out. What used to be a man was tearing into the woman with its nails and teeth, and blood was everywhere. I hardly realized I was shouting. 'They left her there! I'm pretty sure he's a man. Then all of the sudden we here this huge bang. "Come on! So your face!" We just sat there, knowing when he finds us he'll do something to us. Then he jumped out of no where right in front of us. "Stand up!" He yelled and we just sat there frozen in fear because all we brought with us was knives and he was pointing a gun at us. "I said stand up!" He yelled and we stood up. "Grab em boys." He said and two other guys walked up beside him.

Right now, I'm squatting in a pile of human waste, desperately trying to get a signal on my phone. My friends are watching me reluctantly, their faces stained with blood and what I only hope is dirt. The light from my phone is illuminating their faces, casting light on the looks of horror that I have come to know all too well. My best friend is cradling her left arm, bandaged with a torn piece of cloth in hopes of stopping the blood flow. My sister can barely walk, and I think her hand is broken. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent?
