"Where is he?" They turned on you with sharp tongues and icy stares. It didn't bother you. You wouldn't ever tell them anything.
Your fingers kept moving over the delicate feather in your hand as if it were the only thing grounding you. "Who knows? I lost connection with him a while ago." And though that may be true, it didn't send you into a straight panic like before. This time you knew better. He and the others would not fail you, they never had.
