"Fine. I'll leave you alone if you tell me you don't love me"

His voice cracked scared at the thought that I might actually say it.

"I..I d... I do-"

"No. Look me in the eyes and say it"

I kept my face down not wanting him to see me crying, not wanting to see me weak, not wanting him to know he had the power to make me like this. He held my chin and raised my head. He stared deeply into my dark brown eyes as if he was trying to find the meaning of his life.

"Look me in the eyes... and tell me you don't care for me ... that you don't love me"

I looked at his eyes, the eyes I loved more than anything, starting to water and filled with worry and sadness, before averting my eyes elsewhere. I turned my head back to him and stared in his his sweet, chocolate colored eyes. And with a tear falling down my cheek I said..

"I don't think I can do that"
