However, many years ago, a brave Paladin of the sun goddess, Diasunne, was sent by a survivor's father to retrieve the Baron and his daughter.
The question is: does the Baron even want to be rescued? Has he fallen to the level of the Commonwealth thugs and dogs, consorting with mages and bringing his ruin upon his own head?

I thought I had died on my way home from work and that the gods had blessed me with a loving father in the afterlife. Now, I am trapped in the book series I had read only because my friend loved it. And I can barely recall key details because I never bothered to read it carefully. It was already a horrible story riddled with many plot holes. And being stuck in it? It's even worse-especially as someone who wasn't even mentioned in the book because she was supposed to die early on. ~.~ This is a transmigration ACOTAR story set before Amarantha was sent as an emissary to Prythian. While the war over slavery has already occurred, I've altered the timeline and some details about the war's history. I also dislike the trope of a "truly evil" villain whose sole purpose is to justify the plot of a war or the extension of a series. With this story, I want to give the villain a backstory-a name and depth-saving him from the same mediocre depiction of a tyrant.

Plenty of intellectual rights shenanigans here that I'm not smart enough to address, but it's all in fun. When writing I kept the theme from D&D world of "letting the characters choose wrong/useless paths to explore" as an unnecessary rule imposed on myself, which took more effort than I expected due to sidetracks, but I still enjoy the story that resulted. My heart is subjected to this stabbing pain, like I'd turned the knife on myself, and I would rather it be like that. "But if you don't," he whispers," you are mine and all mine. We will rule the dawn of a new age, we will complete our bond, and you will forget about her. Make your choice." I can hear my heart beat in my ears, and I swallow agaisnt the rush. These are my options. Kill him, or agree to be his. I make my own choice. I can not take my freedom away. I can not be the mate he wants, but I can not kill him. The Lost Life of Laraine
She lead a rather tragic life. The black sheep of her family due to her lack of affinity for fire. Her affinity was quite the opposite. Water in fact. Already in a time when women did not really have much political power or rights, she was outcasted by her family despite being of nobility. Still allowed to live in the distant west wing of the massive Grand Duke's manor, she has never eaten a single meal with her family nor extended family, and has spent her loneliness in her books and sword lessons. Although only taught by the head butler and one of the low ranked knights of the family, she was quite bright and if her family would have given her a chance she would have done great things. If only she didn't die at such a young age. Married off to some "hero" of sort that had slayed the Dragon of the North who was terrorizing the land and threatened the kingdom, this hero also had an affinity for fire and held her in disdain like the rest of her family. Suddenly a girl of another world was transported to their world, picked up by this hero and put into his secure care. The pair soon fell for each other despite the hero's marriage, and many believed Laraine got jealous of this girl of mystery, and tried to kill her. This was definitely not true. But because the girl was favored by the temple and kingdom Laraine was quickly arrested and put on trial. You can probably tell what happened to Laraine. But something strange happened the day of her execution. As soon as her decapitated head hit the ground the sky turned blood red and it began to rain fire. No one survived that day. But for some reason time went back, and Laraine was back to being a child, but with no memory of her future. There were select few in her life, however, that remembered her tragedy and now perhaps will take action to prevent it. NOTE: I'M AWARE THERE ARE A LOT OF INCONSISTENCIES. IT WILL BE EDITED SOME DAY BUT RIGHT NOW I'M JUST TRYING TO FINISH IT.

Because Bhaal's chosen must be so despicable that they can use honeyed words to convince their prey to commit their own murder, command a room of people to drop with the most angelic of Melodies. Her power resides in words because it was his desire, but her skills were moulded into something far more deadly. How she became lost with this urge is the main question pounding against her skull, but whoever did this didn't think of one thing. Sirena may have forgotten...but she will never forgive.
