"When I turn 18, I would have to die" she said it with such certainty I would've believed that she's a seer, what with her luminous blue eyes and her aura of clandestine demeanor, perhaps she could actually see through the future.
"what do you mean?" I asked incredulously.
When she didn't answer and won't meet my eyes, I started to get baffled then I realized that I may be cruising into a delicate subject. I wouldn't want to hurt her, that would kill me. But my curiosity surmounts my courtesy, I know if I plan to delve into this certain subject, I'd have to tread really carefully.
I contemplated my words, but when it's time for me to actually speak, my voice involuntarily cracked, "you mean you're sick?" I asked. Just thinking about it makes me feel like death is hovering above our heads, I could almost feel the air around us grow more gloomy as tough it could sense my crestfallen heart.
Here I am in front of the girl I am deeply infatuated with, and who knows she might be someone who could actually reciprocate my affection. The past few days were the best days I had here in this town. Knowing that she'd be here doesn't make my vacations at my aunt's so bad anymore.
I've dreamed about what kind of summers and winters we're going to spend with each other. The places I'd take her and the stories I'd blithely tell her.
And now she's telling me that she'll eventually die, in a short term notice, that is so unfair.
