During the colonial era, a little girl is made to witness her father being killed in cold blood. To top it all, her genital organs are mutilated by the stone cold commander leaving her for the dead.
*
This story revolves around her as she grows to a beautiful woman, seeking justice to avenge her father and her people but most of all herself.
Will she get justice during this times where the only one who can grant her is the same person who defiled her?
Will her people perish under the tyrant or will they get a savior?
*
This is a semi-true story based of the struggles the people of Kenya underwent during the colonial era.
This version is rarely told but I will tell it anyway.
It might not be popular as many people shy reminiscing the gruesome past, but if it is not told, who will?
*
This is not your typical hero/heroine story but it is based from a reality with compromise.

Finn has an honourable position; personal servant to the monarch of Cafi, a small country off the coast of France. He also has not-so-honourable a position; a man in love with another man, in the early 1800s. Oliver is being forced towards marriage, and Finn is being forced towards accepting his love is unrequited. As France begins to fall into another revolution, the world begins unravelling around them. Oliver has to fight to maintain the democracy he established, and Finn must cope with the reawakening of his less-than-ideal past as a con artist in the search for his long-lost brother. The two must learn who to trust and who not to trust as they begin to know each other more deeply than they every thought they could. Content Warnings Applicable to This Story: This book is set in the early 1800s, and I don't want to avoid talking about the horrendous things that happened to people of colour then. It will talk about slavery, but from a firm anti-slavery perspective, never glorifying or making excuses for it. Cafi itself is a fictional country and while I absolutely believe they would have had slave trade too (because most places did and I don't want to pretend they didn't), I want the book to include Oliver's fight to abolish slavery in his country. Otherwise, there may be previous mentions of abuse, but it will be extremely mild, nothing graphic, and the chapter itself will pre-warn you. Oliver's relationship with his family can be problematic at times. Please take care of yourself during any chapters that may be triggering for you.

EXCERPT "Women like you shouldn't be a part of our society. Your rotten behaviours spoil the well groomed ladies to behave just like you whores! A shameless girl who got herself knocked up by an unknown person in her teen years, how disgusting, both you and your bastard son!" He sput scrunching up his face in disgust. "You're just a whore! And you're whoring with him as well!" Atuweni's hand landed across his cheek in a hot slap before she could stop herself as tears streamed down her cheeks. "You have no right! Absolutely no right to talk about me being shameless and disgusting because you're the most disgusting of us both! Dont bother talking about an unknown father because the father is very well known and he's an imbecile because you are the father of my son!" He staggered back shocked as her words sunk their meaning into his brain forcing him to be quiet. Atuweni clapped her hand over her mouth. She hadn't meant for that to come out. She hadn't meant for him to know. What had she done!?

University friends Luisa and Kay reunite in Nairobi after a year apart to do some feel good volunteering but their friendship and the trip begin to unravel the moment they meet a strikingly handsome British philanthropist and a Ghanaian entrepreneur. In short order the donor funding the project that has brought them together is revealed to be rich and cruel, her interest in coming to Kenya to "help" routed in deeply disturbing ideology. Meanwhile, Luisa must confront her reasons for maintaining her friendship with Kay, her status as heir to a nearly incalculable fortune, her feelings for a man who seems a little too good to be true and the tragedy she left behind back in California. ** A/N This story is a work of fiction, but it's based on things I saw and heard while working in international development for five years. It's my attempt to find the complicated middle ground between those who would idealize international development and those who would condemn it. It's also a place for me to deal with a difficult friendship I had with a friend who was suffering from mental illness. She's since passed away and I'm not sure I ever really got over it. The story isn't at all done so as I'm writing I'm figuring it out too. I've set the story Nairobi and in Kisumu, which is far west of Nairobi. I've picked the title partly because of what Nairobi represents. Nairobi is a throbbing, innovative metropolis situated in a continent that is still viewed very narrowly as a place in need of help.

And most importantly, where is the line drawn, between Good and evil? Join Jack on this dark take on the implications of isekai. Will he get his revenge, or will he die, and life will stay the same as he rots in his grave?
