Sixteen-year-old Delphine Freesia has had death and despair in her life for years. Since her family was murdered when she was seven, she's been in several foster homes. She wants revenge. After Margaret "Maggie" and her mother were able to escape their abusive husband/father, Liam, they move into a small home miles away. After months of peace from Liam, a strange man visits Maggie and claims he is her biological father. Maggie, excited to have a father again believes him and begins hanging out with him. Chp. 4 Preview: She was able to see what the paper had on it immediately after taking it from the shelf, and it made her heart immediately drop. Her blood sugar fell, and her face became pale, feeling dizzy. Her heart began racing as she saw me staring at her. The drawing she just found was a realistic depiction of myself smiling at the person who saw it. Unlike myself, who felt joy and inspiration from seeing father draw me this, mother was scared witless. Her legs became jelly, her body was paralyzed. All she could do was stare at the drawing, knowing that no one could have drawn this except an adult. And she knew I did not talk to any adults- or did I? Now she couldn't be too sure. This picture was from someone who knew how I looked, even getting the dimples on my cheeks and small birthmark on the side of my neck. It was someone that had to know me very well.
