After an officer in Bedford, Iowa finds an unconscious boy dressed in medieval clothing and discovers he has no memories of where he came from, she decides to take him under her wing. She realizes quickly, however, that medieval clothing is not the only thing that makes this boy peculiar. The boy, who she names Jake, has extraordinary abilities that she realizes they will have to hide. This works well for the most part...until Jake moves to a new school and meets another peculiar boy named Alex who also lost his memory around the same time he did. Jake and Alex find themselves part of an epic adventure that takes them back through time to the kingdom of Camelot. The two soon realize that they are not only witnessing the Arthurian legend unfold before them-but that they are the legend.
