Crime and Punishment is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal 'The Russian Messenger' in twelve monthly installments during 1866. Later, it was published in a single volume. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from 5 years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is considered the first great novel of his "mature" period of writing. Crime and Punishment focuses on the mental anguish and moral dilemmas of Rodion Raskolnikov, an impoverished ex-student in Saint Petersburg who formulates a plan to kill an unscrupulous pawnbroker for her money. Before the killing, Raskolnikov believes that with the money he could liberate himself from poverty and go on to perform great deeds; but confusion, hesitation, and chance muddy his plan for a morally justifiable killing. Book 2 The Ruthless Ties Series An innocent heart collided with a ruthless soul, in a world where mercy had no place. Fate, ever cruel, bound them in a dance neither could escape. Written in Reverie - the second book in the Ruthless Ties series - is a story about the collision of innocence and ruthlessness, of shattered dreams and rewritten fates. The story of an undestined fate - of two souls from completely opposite worlds, opposite bloodlines - colliding in a marriage built on convenience, forced consequences, and the crushing weight of duty and morality, set against a backdrop of a morally grey world. Alekha Agnihotri, the eldest princess of the Agnihotri family, watches her heart, her hopes, and her dreams shatter in a single night. With no path left to choose, she is forced to accept her fate as the enemies of her nation, Auveria, step forward in her rescue. In Rostavich, she is surrounded by threats cloaked in shadows; safety is a fleeting illusion. But standing between her and annihilation is Igor Sokolov - a man with no heart, no mercy. A killer. A ruthless villain carved from ice and blood, whose hands have long forgotten kindness. And yet, in the ashes of lost dreams and fractured loyalties, a story neither of them was meant to live begins to unfold.
