The year is 1995. The wizarding world is in a frenzy over the return of Voldemort, and the Ministry of Magic is desperately trying to push propaganda proclaiming it as false. The Order of Phoenix prepares for an unpredictable threat. It is during this dark hour that an interesting proposition is presented to Albus Dumbledore. Edward H. Blackwood, a former Slytherin, will teach a class at the school with minimum pay - but the class is on one of the darkest types of magic of all. Dumbledore reluctantly agrees.

But as students regret the summer slipping through their fingers, Alice Quinn regrets the year she does not remember. She has been missing since her departure at the end of her fourth year. The only clue to her missing memory is the odd tattoo on her arm; one that, eerily enough, does not come off no matter what spell is cast. And there's the flashes she gets, flashes where she vividly remembers doing horrible, horrible things.

And those things all involve Hogwarts' newest teacher.

[Crossover between Harry Potter and the Bartimaeus Trilogy, but no knowledge of the latter is need.]

Phoenix Aumry (Slater) was a secret until her father was arrested by the ministry. Given the chance to attend Wizarding School for the first time in her 16 years - she jumped at the chance. After befriending many of the most popular people in school, Phoenix is stretched when keeping up with the lies she's told them and the secrets she's kept from them. She tries to defend her privacy and her secret identity, but having a deatheater for a father isn't exactly easy when Voldemort is soon on the rise. But coping with the school work, friendship drama and a crazy, evil father isn't her only problem - she is haunted by a past life and it begins to take over. This book follows the Goblet of Fire and The Order of the Phoenix plots. Phoenix follows the Harry Potter storyline, told by her point of view, often skipping things or skipping ahead, she may miss out some details or change them, but that's to fit her in. The whole Harry Potter storyline and franchise is owned by J.K.Rowling, this story is merely a fanfiction, an interpretation of what it would be like with original characters thrown in the mix.
