The tension that girded my shoulders like a cloak fell away, my lips tugging upward in an easy smirk. It was electrifying, I could feel the heat of the arena beneath my feet yet at the same time, I felt strangely detached. I allowed myself to revel in the moment, tentatively holding onto it as though it were a fragile bird ready to fly away at the drop of a pin.

My opponent stood at the far end, clothed in leather garments such as I had, only she wore a pauldron of burnished bronze, intricate designs too small for me to see carved upon its surface. There were no weapons between us, and I was thankful for that. I knew that would come later, however.

"Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. "Do you really want to test me Dante?" He asks raising a single eyebrow. For a minute the men stop their movements. I see their hesitation for fear... Fear of what? I take the moment to stick Cassandra behind a nearby tree. She crouches down while I pull my sword out from its place. "How do you know my name?" The scoundrel raises his sword challenging towards the boy before taking a final step towards him. Then the unexpected happens. The young boy chuckles so darkly. It sounded almost... demonic. All the men instinctively raise their swords. "Oh Dante, I didn't know your name... but you know someone dear to me." "Spit it out boy!" The once grinning man is now looking around frantically. I continue my eyes scanning the small boy. He looks directly me and gives me a small nod before saying one word that caused all hell to breaks loose. "Artemis." Artemis is not an ordinary girl. She grew up in the wilderness after being shunned due to unique abilities and her different physical attributes. Blessed with an ability that scared others, she roams the wild with only her guarded one. That is until she stumbles into a situation that brings her in front of a prince.

I tried to look away, but before I could, his hand reached out, his fingers brushing against my skin as he gently lifted my chin. The touch was soft, but the way he held me in place was anything but gentle. "Do not take my cooperation as weakness, little lamb," he warned, his voice thick with something darker, something dangerous. His gaze bore into mine with an unyielding force, as if daring me to challenge him. I felt the tension coil in my body, and with a sharp, instinctive movement, I smacked his hand away, my pulse quickening, my breath uneven. "Touch me again, and this 'little lamb' will bite your fingers off," I shot back, my voice low and daring, laced with a fire I hadn't meant to show. His lips curled into a dark chuckle, the sound rich and slow, like honey dripping from his tongue. "If you were anyone else," he said dismissively, his gaze trailing over me with casual disregard, "you would have already been dead." ********** For generations, Maeli's people have been trapped within a never-ending forest, bound to a secluded clearing that no one can enter or escape. But as Maeli draws closer to him, she is caught between the burden of saving her village and the undeniable pull of a man who could bring salvation-or seal her people's doom.

Her hands clutched her dress as she looked down. I placed my both hands each side of her head on the wall and caged her. She was terrified to be in that position. "Move back. What are you doing" Turning her face to a side she pushed me with both hands but I didn't budge. Instead I held her nape of the neck and yanked her face. I looked in to her eyes drowning into them. She punched my chest with her small fist to free herself from my hold. But I held her more tightly giving her more pressure on her neck which made her frown in pain. Tears were rolling down from her eyes wetting her chubby cheeks. She was trying her best to push me back but I yanked her face further and captured her lips. Her soft juicy lips against my dark rough one. Now she was struggling more to release herself, hitting my shoulders and pushing me continuously. But I was lost in her strawberry like lips. Tasting them and punishing them I was loosing my control as my other hand snaked around her waist which she tried to remove immediately. Her lips were warm and inviting me to explore more and more. Tilting her head to a side I deepened the kiss looking for an entrance. But she sealed her lips in to a thin line blocking me away. Nibbling her lower lip with mine I demanded for an entrance but she remained the same which made me frustrated. I removed my hand from her neck and held jaw and squeezed her cheeks. Her mouth pouted and I entered in to her devouring each corner inside. The need for her increasing each passing second and she was struggling hard to stop whatever I am doing with her. Her hard punches landed on my chest now and she was trying to push my face away. Suddenly I felt her movements stopped I loosed my grip on her and she collapsed in my arms. I was lost in the kiss and didn't realize she was out of her breath.

No one ever said what would happen when dragons and aliens meet. And no one told me that I would be in the middle of it. Tasha was studying hard to get through her last year of university when she was kidnapped. She certainly didn't expect to wake up with four feet and wings. Mad scientists are bad enough, but things get even more complicated when aliens appear and wipe out the human race. Is there a way for her to hide her true identity in this new world while retaining her humanity? --------------------- Sneak Peek: I jumped over the lip of the tray and beat down hard with my wings. I had expected to only slow my fall; I had not expected to end up gaining so much height. I squawked in surprise and spread my wings wide in alarm before gravity regained its hold on me. With several awkward back-winging motions of my wings, I landed lightly on the floor. Well, at least I know my wings work. I glanced at the man in the corner as he was scribbling quick notes. I turned around to regard the tray again. They say practice makes perfect. With another hop and a single wingbeat, I managed to land in the sand tray with fanned wings slowing my momentum. That was much more graceful. But a wing-assisted hop wasn't true flight. And I still wasn't on the windowsill. ---------------------------- Entire semi-polished draft can be read on Wattpad. They say Rudrgadh is built on blood-every stone in its palace walls, every whisper in its corridors, soaked in the weight of ancient betrayals. I never thought I would be part of that story. I was born in silence, raised in shadows. My mother taught me grace, my father taught me how to run, and neither of them ever spoke of the fire that once burned behind their eyes. We moved often, never staying long in one place. I grew up believing we were just wanderers... until the night I danced under the moonlight, near the sacred waterfall-and he saw me. King Veer Pratap Singh. The man who ruled with steel in his veins and a storm in his eyes. I had only heard tales of him-ruthless, undefeated, the people's savior and the enemy's nightmare. But when our eyes met, I didn't see a king. I saw a man standing still for the first time in years. And in that stillness, something inside me shifted. I should have run. But fate is cruel, and hearts are foolish. When his marriage proposal arrived at my doorstep, my world tilted. My parents went pale. Secrets long buried clawed their way to the surface. I didn't understand why they were afraid-until I learned the truth. Veer is searching for his parents' killer. And the man he seeks... is my father. Now I stand at the edge of a life I never asked for-torn between a love I never meant to find and a truth I can no longer run from. If I marry him, I betray my blood. If I leave, I betray my heart. How do you love the man who wants to destroy your family? And when that man looks at you like you're his only peace... how do you not love him back?
