He cared for her when nobody else did and he treated her like his own child. When she was deployed, he was the only "father" to keep in-touch with her. She and his daughter Rachel were best friends, and she cared for his son Jacob like he was her little brother. Her and Jacob became quite close when she moved in. They would do everything together, including Jocob's friends, Embry Call and Quil Ateara. She would drive them to school, go work out at the gym, come home and get a shower and some food, and then go work at the local bakery in town. Jacob and his friends would go to the bakery everyday after school and stay there until she got off work, for her to drive them back home and hang out for a while longer. After six months, Sophia learns her sister is coming to Forks to stay with their father. Sophia becomes infuriated, all because her sister is coming back. She almost instantly learns about Jacob having a thing for Bella, which pisses her off even more.
