❝come right to the edge and see what's there, be the light to my darkest hour❞ --- Evelyn Jefferson was damaged. She constantly medicated herself with every pill she could find. It was her way of fulfillment, her way of happiness. Growing up, she lived in an amazing home, a childhood that many kids dreamt of, until her father was diagnosed with cancer. He was always there for her, seeing as her mother had passed early on, making things more difficult for her internally. Shortly after she had just turned nineteen, he died, sending her into a drug-addicted spiral. --- Daniel Parks was a hopeless romantic. He believed that love could be found anywhere and everywhere. He believed that he can save anyone that came his way. He grew up in foster care, and did not start off as such a happy person. It was not until he was adopted at twelve, that changed how he felt towards life. Raised in a home filled with smiles and cheerful attitudes, he felt truly at ease. --- He wanted to save her.

"First you captivated me... then you held me captive." Evelyn was like most college-aged girls working a part-time job when she met Caleb, who came in to her life when she wanted him least but needed him most. He captivated her. By the end of summer, she had fallen in love with him. It was then that he wanted her to meet his parents. And that's when everything changed. Caleb was not the man Evelyn thought he was. He came from a secluded village that did things much differently from the rest of society. Isolated in one of the most sparsely populated areas of the country, it was as if they live in their own little world. They were a traditional village for the most part, but there were some aspects that they did much differently than any other, especially in the ways of courtship. It didn't take long for Evelyn to realize one thing: once you were brought home to meet the parents, there was no escape.
