Her wide brown eyes were glued to the window, not being able to look into her mother's face afraid she'd read her thoughts like she always does. She pretended to be excited about the change, hoping for this new start, but Emma didn't really like the idea of changes in general. Not that there was something keeping her from doing so, but because she would have to start over from scratch, and she knew from experience, that that was not easy. She couldn't really blame her mother either. After all that had happened, the best she could do was support her as she had always done. There was a new life awaiting her, whether she liked it or not.
This book follows the life of Emma, a 17-year-old girl who has just moved to San Francisco, California with her mother all the way from Portugal. It touches sensitive topics like suicide, eating disorders, bullying, etc which are all struggles that a lot of teenagers have to go through so read with caution.
