"It's not my story. I'm the side character who helps out the main characters to realize their love and fulfill their promises. Kung sa fairy tales pa, I'm akin to a fairy godmother. Or perhaps a matchmaker. It's not a story I'm supposed to tell but a story I'm supposed to write. It's a story I'm supposed to give a finale to end the never-ending regrets of a lost love." ********** Naruse Kyouko, a half-Japanese half-Filipino young lady who grew up in Japan suddenly found herself stuck in the 19th century Philippines. But instead of being the main girl in the story, her role is to be the official matchmaker, fairy godmother, at pwede na ring writer sa tuwing humahabi siya ng kwento at palusot para lang sa katuparan ng love story ng dalawang main characters. Okay sana 'yon sa kanya. Sanay naman siya sa ganoon even in the present time. But with royal duties on her shoulders, a political struggle to deal with, a dying fairy to save as well as an overly gorgeous side character na umeepal at gumugulo sa karapat-dapat na takbo ng plano niya, will she ever establish a happily ever after for a long lost love or will the story remain unfinished and eventually end in tragedy? Written mainly in English and Filipino; slighly in Japanese, Spanish, and Italian. (All are not my first languages.) Some people feel like memories the first time you meet them. She knew better than to trust someone so soon - pero may kung anong sa kanya na parang matagal nang kilala. What began as a spontaneous decision turned into late-night conversations, shared silences, quiet stares, and a kind of intimacy neither of them expected - or fully understood. For her, it wasn't love. Not yet. But it felt like home. And maybe, that was even scarier. Just when things were beginning to make sense... two pink lines changed everything. "Buntis ako." In a world where love felt dangerous, marriage seemed like a trap, and the future was always uncertain, she's forced to make a choice: to face a truth she's not ready for, tell someone she's not sure she can trust, and carry a life she never planned. Is she ready to tell him - and risk breaking something she barely understands? Or stay silent, keep it, and face it all alone? Oddly Familiar is a story about moments that change us, people who arrive when we least expect them, and a kind of love that feels both terrifying and true. It's about growing up too soon, letting go too late, and finding courage in the most unexpected places. Because sometimes, the people we meet by accident are the ones who stay. And sometimes, we ride off with strangers who feel oddly... familiar.
