The World According to Susie (stemxfem)
At 23, Susie feels like the poster child for "I Should've Dropped Out Years Ago." Trapped in the endless purgatory of university life, she's basically a hermit who's seen the vibrant social scene from afar-like a documentary on Netflix she didn't feel cool enough to click on. Her one lifeline? Rina, her ride-or-die best friend, who helps Susie survive the chaos of classes, friendships, and Susie's questionable romantic decisions. Between stressing over midterms and obsessing over whether Georgia's text messages have hidden meanings (spoiler: they don't), Susie shares her trials and tribulations with equal parts melodrama and accidental comedy. From awkwardly trying to "break out of her shell" to realizing that even hermits need human connection, Susie's journey is full of cringe-worthy yet heartfelt moments. Through it all, she learns that life outside her comfort zone isn't as terrifying as it seems-though it might require dragging Rina into a Halloween party or surviving a lab with her mortal enemy. With a mix of laughter, tears, and a lot of snacks, Susie's story shows that college isn't just about grades; it's about finding yourself, your people, and maybe your future. But, you know, after midterms.

The first time Mel saw Dean was in an elective class called Madness in Literature. He had been sitting a few rows down in his green parka, writing furiously into his notebook. Something about him made her stop and stare, and it felt like she hasn't looked away since. But there is a reason why Dean seldom comes to class. And why he seems reluctant to be her friend. And why he disappears for ages with answering her messages. Mel would have been bothered by all of it, except that she doesn't care. This is your only warning. 🔪 "You're so damn gorgeous, Ives," he says, and leans up to meet my lips again. He's the one that's gorgeous, and I feel myself completely loose myself once again. His lips are dominating my own, as his hands travel down my back, and he tugs on my shirt, to release it from my skirt. His hands then caresses my bare skin for a few minutes, before he sits up. He brings me with him, and I'm now straddling his lap. His eyes are filled with lust, and I'm so damn scared, for completely different reasons than earlier tonight. His skillful fingers finds the buttons of my shirt, and he opens them slowly, while I lean back down towards him, to make our lips connect again. I might come to my senses if he doesn't keep kissing me. He tugs the shirt off of me, and his hands run across my bare stomach. He stops, suddenly, and I feel a sharp sting under my left boob. "What happened? Are you..." He trails off, as he looks down at my body, and I stiffen. Holy shit, I forgot all about that. "Ives... What is this?" he asks, and he pulls his hands away from me. 🌹 Ives has just moved away from her overprotective brother and their alcoholic dad to go to college. She is trying her best to put her past behind her, but it keeps coming back to haunt her. In this book we get to know Ives and her new friends as she struggles with her newfound freedom.
