What if the fantasy world you grew up reading was real? What if your father wasn't an overbearing writer, but a warrior who defeated kings? What if you traveled to this world and returned? Who would you tell? Who would believe you? Jack doesn't know who he wants to be. Everyone at high school only knows him as the son of world-famous fantasy author Marcus Ward. But after Marcus mysteriously dies, Jack finds himself transported to the fantasy world, where the fictional heroes and villains live and breathe. Even worse, they've been expecting him. Some want to kill him for his father's crimes. Others think he is the answer to a prophecy, come to defeat a familiar evil. An army of rebels has rallied behind a prophet who foretold Jack's arrival - but who hides his own secrets. Jack must now confront his father's legacy in one world and rise above it in the other. Otherworld goes beyond the "other world" fantasy trope by continuing Jack's story when he returns to our world. How can he go back to his life after learning his father's secret - and who would believe him?
