My name is Takeshi Fujino and I will be turning sixteen in four days. Lest did I know that within that time my life would turn upside down. Let me explain. I live in a small Japanese village that follows a sort of religion. It is one you probably have never heard of, it’s called the Law and it rules over the people who live here. I am the only one who doesn’t exactly follow it but I mostly keep my opinion to myself for not believing is a capital sin and is punishable by death. I think it ridiculous but no one will listen to me. They think I’m crazy or something, perhaps I am. At least when things began happening I started to question my sanity. Reality seemed to flip on its head, everything that I knew suddenly changed drastically. Please, listen to me. I have to tell someone. Please, don’t stop reading. I fear I may not be alive much longer so I beg you to stay and listen. Please don’t shut me out.
