After science becoming to advance for humans, the world become a disaster.  Earth's plates have shifted together forming one Pangea for everyone to live on.  Supplies have become scarce and due to continents sinking into the ocean there is very little land left on Earth.  Except for the Pangea, now Earth is over-populated and only the fittest will survive.  But the remaining scientists are testing out a different theory, mankind may be able to survive and live on another planet.  Out of the remaining 16 year olds left, there will be phases for them to go through known as The Elite Phases.  Those who do not make it through them, will be destroyed.  Ariss is one of the few 16 year olds left.  But there isn't much room left on Earth

They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow.
