Everything was normal to begin with. I sit on the rock with my mother, lecturing about leaving with Syrena again, without permission.

Then one day I met a pirate. He didn't seem too bad, just a little childish. But he used me.

He captured me and my sister Syrena. He left mom all alone. All for a woman that didn't even love him.

He was far from apologetic but for some reason I pity him.

When I get the chance. I'll leave these pathetic humans and there savage ways.

I just never intended to fall for the pirate like I did.

I woke up in a daze, unsure of why my body felt so stiff, so sore. I winced as I threw my legs over the side of the bed, and again as I stood up, pain flaring from every muscle in my body as I made my way to the polished mirror beside my wardrobe. I gasped at the sight of the bruised and battered girl in front of me. The memories from last night flooded my mind. It was my birthday. Father had invited several high class guests to the event. He expected me to begin courting. The man he had introduced me to was a plump old man. I had refused adamantly, his years against my fourteen churned my stomach. Unfortunately, my father didn't take my refusal well. He grabbed me by the arm roughly and dragged me into the attic-my bedroom. His beatings were getting worse. At least the last time i t hadn't taken much effort to hide the pain. This time that wouldn't be possible. This time, there would be no hiding it. This time the pain was too much. I whimpered as I headed to the door, but it was locked. It seems my father had predicted my state. Rage and anger burned through my veins as I slammed my fist against the door. One day I would learn to defend myself. One day I would escape this wretched castle. One day I would no longer be bound by the Caspian people. One day I will no longer be their princess. "I will get away from here, and you will pay for what you've done old man." I vowed before slamming my fist against the door again. "I will be free." I huffed as I crawled back into the bed for some much needed rest.

Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories. "Sometimes, the thing you need most is right under your nose." -Captain Teague - (Book 1) - Hello, I'm Annika Hesture, a lass, a pirate who was very KINDLY forced into working with some dirty scumbag called Jack Sparrow. The idiot had lost his ship, The Black Pearl, to Barbossa, his arch enemy. Jack had forced me to help him in his plan to, I quote, 'commandeer' a ship, pick up a crew in Tortuga and steal back his Pearl. I wasn't sure about it at first, in fact, I despised Jack more than anything; that airhead was a traitor to me and the entire population of the female species! But as time went on, I started to become comfortable with him and realised that this adventure could actually be quite... Interesting... - Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ^.^ Only Annika and a bit of the storyline which I twisted to fit the fanfic :) AND YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THAT FRONT COVER TOOK ME ;-; why must life be so difficult?
