Malica is a sixteen year old girl from Cleveland, Ohio. Her dad died in a horrific car accident when she was eleven years old and she thinks it's not that simple. Why? Because she survived with only a couple scrapes and bruises.
Still trying to cope with the past, she wants to figure out what will help her with her terrible flashbacks of that night.
And it starts with a pen pal of hers name Deron Leighton from California, who claims he might be able to help her.
But the real question is, "Was it really her fault?"

Excerpt from first chapter:
"You know, one day you're going to dye your hair, and it'll all fall out." Deron pointed his finger at me through the screen, the camera on his side capturing the glimmer of his black fingernail polish. I stopped folding my clothes, leaning my head back, my eyes rolling into my head in the most exaggerated eye roll ever. After standing like that for a minute, I rolled my head to the side, eyeing the screen. Hopefully the annoyance in my eyes would be evident.
