Alyson Porter feels she goes unnoticed by everyone, even a dog if you'd inquire. She's a listless adolescent, excels in every school subject, even if she committed a California-stop it would throw her in total disarray. Her palette misses several colors: a tight-knit family, comfort, love, companionship, and the biggest one yet to her challenge—sociability. She views life as monotonous; but not until paths cross between her and a nonchalant boy, Bradley. Subsequent to their meet, he kindles her spirit, lifting her up to euphoria and awakening a different side never to have been discovered by her alone. But as their relationship snowballs, it comes to her realization that love was the possible color meant to be missing in her palette and never to be acquired by the teen, Bradley later endeavoring to prove her wrong.
