I mean this is when life decides to give me a literal get out of jail free card. Didn't want to do it a year ago! You have got to be screwing me! I may have skipped here and there, but I know how the world works, believe me.
I swear this feels like when Neo got the chance to leave, what I believe is, a virtual paradise or be stuck in the real world, where everything has gone to shit. When in reality, nobody is that curious and almost everybody loves ignorance. People want to feel safe so they wrap themselves in thick layers of the stuff, pretending to not notice that they live in a world that's more like hell than they would like to know. I'm not one of those people. I'd rather be locked up in a cage , where I know all the dangers and ways to get myself killed , than have unexpected curve balls thrown at me left, right and centre.
I don't like surprises.
"No." My voice bearly comes out but it's firm and sure.
"Excuse me?" I can see he's shocked at my blatant rejection of his offer. Well he doesn't know me and he probably never will. He runs a hand through grey, aging, hair and slouches in his metal chair. "I didn't expect you to say a straight up 'No', but I guess that's your answer." He shoves his hands in his pocket and pulls out a black business card with, prominent, silver writing on it. He slides the card across the table . I go to pick it up but chains restrict my hands. I almost forgot about those.
"Keep it close or memorise the number and get rid of the card. Just call me if you change your mind." He walks out without another word and I pick up the card.
I say I'll never need a man again or that I won't call him, but deep down I know, I have just a little too much fight to let it end like this...
