Never Normal

My name is Erica, and I have never been normal. From birth, I had little knobs on my back. No one besides my family really knew. That was until I started hitting the ages known as "preteens". This was the age that it was made perfectly clear that I wasn't normal. The knobs were growing. They always had been, but never this quickly. It was now clear I had wings. No one who knew had the slightest idea what they were until then. But now they knew. The wings weren't full grown quite yet, so I can't fly yet, but they are certainly visible, putting me on the target list for many bullies.
