After Kopa is murdered, Kiara is no longer granted freedom to anything. In Simba's rage to defend his pride from Zira, he grows stone hearted and no longer grants Kiara the right to select a mate. Let alone look for one. Much time later Vitani is caught to be pregnant by Zira who wasted no time to banish her from the out lands, in her fear of defeat after losing a useful member of her pride she is more persistent on Kovu who soon gives into the manipulation and no longer cares for anything other spilling Simba's blood and hiding from Zira. When escaping Zira's grasp for the day, he is soon caught by the males of the pride after stealing kills, they operate to take his life until he is found by Kiara.

The only place he could think of, was the Outlands. Zira happily let Kion into her pride, knowing he would be a great ally. Evil crept into Kion's soul, but he tried to ignore it. Kion visited the Pridelands sometimes, hoping his father, and family had changed, but they never did. Simba noticed Kion leaving and coming back almost every day, and followed him. When Kion was caught, Simba was furious. He told Kion he had to choose. Kion was put into a situation where he had to decide from respect, love, and affection, or his family. Kion had one week to decide, but in one week, there can be many changes, and in that week, Kion found love...but was it what he wanted? When Simba told Kion to decide, Kion was in fury.
