"Why can't you just be normal" Miara was always messed up. At just seven Miara's mother died with an incurable disease. Her sister left her to go with her boyfriend to college when she was 12 and her father was an workaholic and was very neglectful to her. And to top it off she has to go to a new school after trying to kill herself. So yeah, she has it pretty bad. Then she decides to get people to like her. By doing the one thing she swore she would never do again. Starve herself. "Maybe people will like you better if you loosen up a bit" Reuben Reid is her knight in shining armour. Also a messed up fifteen year old. His alcoholic dad was horrible to him. He never laid a hand on him, it was all the little jabs of words that scared him. A party crazy twin brother and a dead older brother also doesn't help. When these two teenagers bump into each over everything starts to spiral again. I whisper, after that we sit there, in an empty silence, neither of us wanting to be the first one to speak again, because it feels off, like the sound of our own voices might somehow break our hearts more.
