The wind howled and thorns hidden in the clean-cut grass tore at her bare feet as she ran. Her blue silk dress was torn and stained with red and her black hair flew wildly behind her. A desperate fear drove her flight. A fear powered by the knowledge that if she failed, she would surely die. As she ran, a strange and ancient power came to life within her veins.

Most impressive rank: 1 - Fairytale *** Casey is all alone in the werewolf world, the only family she has left is her crazy dad. her mum died of cancer, causing her dad to go crazy and start beating Casey. What's worse is that she can't get away from the violence because when she goes to school they do the same. *** I close my eyes so I could listen and smell everything in case this was the last time I would ever be in this beautiful forest. I chase away any bad or worried thoughts because this place seemed so sacred it did not allow them. I breath in and catch the sweet scent of lavender flowers that speckled the ground in little clumps and the dry smell of dirt that hadn't been rained on in a couple of day. I listen to the steady titters of birds as they fly from tree to tree, collecting little twigs and leaves to build their nests with. I listen to the buzz of the bees greedily feasting on the flowers that scattered around the dry forest floor. I open my eyes to take in the scenery, rays of sunlight filter through the green canopy, penetrating through the leaves and casting a green-yellow effulgence over the ground that wavers as the trees rustle in the light whispers of wind. The crunching of dry leaves under my feet alert me so I cast my eyes to the floor and watch as I step on each individual leaf and dry twig, enjoying the snapping sounds that echo through the near silent forest. Gnarly roots dip into ground and twisted branches reach down, fingers grasping the air, as if reaching for me and I shiver, thinking of my father. I cast my eyes up to think of something else and instantly calm as another puff of breeze rustles the leaves on the trees and ground gently. I look ahead and notice the steady thinning of the old trees and run towards it, loving the feeling of the air in my air and clothes. I spot what I think is light dancing on waters surface and sprint for it. Then I break through the trees, making it to the lake.

'You knew, all this time, you knew and you never told me.' 'Yes,' he bowed his dark head, black hair dishevelled as it fell into his eyes that were beginning to shed their own tears. 'I wanted to protect you. I thought if you never knew then this could never happen. I'm so sorry, please forgive me?' 'There's nothing to forgive,' came her answer, fainter than before. They both knew she had only moments, Jinn could feel the warm stickiness of her blood soaking through the bunched up fabric he pressed tighter still to her wounded stomach, carefully trying to avoid pushing the knife in even further though almost hoping he could force the blood back in through sheer will. The girl's fingers twitched and he lowered his head, sheltering her fading gaze from the prying eyes of the few that remained to bear witness. His closer proximity allowed her to brush her cold fingers over his cheek, smearing her blood upon his smooth flesh. 'Don't be afraid, don't be afraid,' he murmured softly, a lovers caress for her ears only as he could feel the slowing of her heart, beat by beat. He pressed his face to hers, cheek against cheek in an attempt to warm her skin with his own. His lips brushed hers, catching her ragged and shallow breath. 'I'm not afraid,' she whispered, the determined tone affected by her seeping strength. 'I will wait for you, I swear. I'll meet you again in a good place,' he said and caught her smile with his lips, his black eyes open as he kissed her for the last time so that he caught the exact moment when her life-spark fluttered out and his heart shattered in a way he never knew it could.

17 parts Complete

A woman was outcast from the village due to her 'cursed' eyes, one lit up in a dark red fire as her other cooled the world with its deep blue ocean gaze. Fending for herself, she stumbled upon a willow tree, it's branches reaching out for her. Soothing her pain, it took her in. Soon everyone flocked to catch a glance of the willow maiden, building a small town around her. She blessed the earth that they walked on, and they showed gratitude. A man pulled her from the willow tree, her hair withered to a dark black her eyes burned red. Trapped in a tower a sudden fire broke out burning the tower, as the willow tree wept flooding the town. Her soul was forcefully split.
