This is the type of love you wish you found in high school but probably know way too well that it only exists as fiction. Today I'm turning my fiction to reality. ❣️•••❣️ Excerpt: Just as I was about to seek shelter under some building's roof, the tires of a car come to a halt, I wonder who might pity the lonely girl walking in the rain. The passenger window rolls down, and I spot the most unexpected person seated behind the wheel. "Get in" comes out his voice, and I must've stood there agape for a few moments because next comes his rhetorical question. "Are you getting in or continuing walking in the rain?" Eyebrows raised expectantly. ... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!

"I met Amara Rowe the week she started school here. She watched as an old friend stuffed her face with marshmallows. She left after looking lost, so I followed her. She was by a trash can looking... frustrated. She threw away a paper and I picked it out of the trash can after she left.... it was a list. Now it wasn't an ordinary list, no, it was a bucket list, with 10 things written on it. And at the top of the list was, make a friend. And the rest of the list looked... simple. She was simple. At the bottom of the list it said, die happy. And at the time I didn't understand, I didn't think much of it. I thought that maybe she was still adding to it and it wasn't in any specific order. But I wanted to help her do everything on that list. I couldn't help her if I wasn't her friend so that is what I did first." * Amara has a health issue that no other students know about. It's her secret and she will only talk about it if she believes you can handle it. Will her new friend, Clay, be able to handle her secret? Or will Amara have to handle his secret? Three secrets. Two teens. One truth.

Not only are they stupid and joke around a lot, but they also care for each other. They'll be there for their friends, whenever they need help.
