I despise her and everything she stands for. I want to burn everything around her just to watch her walk towards me through the ash crying. She's never seen genuine hatred. She doesn't know true betrayal. But even still, she's beautiful as a church demolition. The place once filled with enlightenment and comfort being crushed and destroyed-beautiful stained glass murals strewed on the ground now reflecting the moon. A work of sacred art now defiled and tainted with the blackness of the gravel. She's been subject to the abandonment and negligence, and now no one can hear her sing. Her screams are starting to sound like archangels. Truth baring, sorrowful and destructive. I love it when she cries; I feel the drums of war in the far horizon, and the names of long-dead obscure gods are murmured. I want nothing more than to demolish her and put her up on display. I want to see her truly broken; I want to show her what actual violence feels like. I want to set her entire world on fire. She might even howl and dance in the flames you never know with her. I won't let anyone else have the privilege of ending her. A Zurena FanFic. One-shot, but really, really long. 2nd person/Zulema's POV (Congratulations, you get to be Zulema)! Set in Season 5. Takes place after New Year's but prior to Maca telling Zulema that she quits. I wrote this to make El Oasis make sense in my own head, because while the Zurena interactions were on point, the story-line was total crap. I'd prefer not to give too much away here, but I understand that people like to know what they are getting themselves into, especially given the length of this work. So I will say this... This is written as a sort of stream-of-consciousness piece that takes a dive into Zulema's psyche as she navigates a meaningful day and reflects on herself and her relationship with Maca. It's written from Zulema's perspective, and truthfully second-person usually isn't my favorite, but it just felt right for this story. So for those of you who find that approach awkward, I hope you will still give it a chance. This is the first fic I have ever written, so feedback is truly appreciated. And since I couldn't get the d@mned Dedication option to work, I will add that here as well- This fic is dedicated to my little fried shrimp who inspired me to write it, encouraged me to publish it, helped me with the Spanish bits, acted as the world's greatest sounding board, and without whom it would not have ever happened.
