There's a few things that he like and all of it doesn't involve talking with someone. Lots of people called him grumpy, old-fashioned, git, loner and lots more. He never be mad at them cause he knew it true. He lock his feeling deep inside where nobody can reach. Arthur Kirkland guard his heart like a treasure. He been hurt before, he have lost his family, he wouldn't want that kind of hurt to appears again in his life. So it's better not to feel any emotions at all, that's what he think.

If there's one thing Marianne Bonnefoy want to achieve in her life, it's to make everyone happy. She love to see other people smile. So she can't just let the Brit next door swallow himself in sadness when she know she can do something about it. She decided to join the Brit stargazing at night while trying to know him.

"You love stars?"
"I do."
"They're pretty but there's none..." She stopped.
"None what?"
"The stars... I can't see them in your eyes. Your eyes is dull, like everything in your life is meaningless. Why is that?"

When Marianne Bonnefoy approach him and start watching the star with him, he doesn't know how to react. A part of him want her to go away but other part of him crave for other human interaction. So he just stayed quiet and Marianne took it as and okay. Day after day, it's become their routine to gaze at the stars together. Arthur could feels that Marianne want to know him deeper but he just can't. He weak and he can't stand it if someone decide to break his heart. Not again. But one thing we know about Marianne Bonnefoy is that she'll never give up.
