Different is defined as partly or totally unlike in nature , form , or quality . This quality of different is something that separates us as people and makes us individuals and is normally looked at as being a good thing that makes you unique . But in this new world of so - called " equality " different is looked at as something to be ashamed of and something you are ultimately punished for .
