Will, a boy who is turning 15 and ready for the choosing.
Roxanna (Roxy), a girl who was found by Halt, abandoned and surviving on her own in a shack. He decides to take her under his wing.
Will is also apprenticed to Halt, and the two quickly become fast friends, growing so close, they have the raw ability to sense when the other is in danger.
