It was snowing that day - big, fat flakes that clumped and clung to everything until they had obscured all the edges.  It was what my teacher would have gleefully called foreshadowing.  I had no idea - I couldn't, I guess, with that whole foreshadowing thing.  All I saw was way he seemed to appeared suddenly between two flakes as if he’d fallen with them.  Only he didn't settle to blur the edges – he came straight at me.
