Having the special ability she does guarantees her a spot, whether she likes it or not. Born to be the moonlark's counterpart, Aila has to fight through all the challenges of her world, and worlds beyond.

A whisper. Even after everything they've been through, everything they've discovered, the Neverseen always seem to be one step ahead. Sophie and her friend are running out of leads. They've faced ogres, plagues, fires, and mortal wounds, but they are no closer to stopping this group of radicals. After getting kidnapped during the battle on Mt. Everest, Valerie Endal, Wylie's sister and a loyal member of the Black Swan, has reason to believe that the Neverseen knew about Project Moonlark long before Sophie's inception. Fearing what measures they might have taken to combat her friend, Valerie begins to investigate her suspicion. As she digs deeper into this horrifying and mysterious reality, she uncovers truths that were better left undiscovered.
