Rise of the Shadow Lord

It's the year 2032 and VRMMOs have become the world's most popular form of entertainment. With a NerveGear in every house, tournaments and dungeon crawls able to be streamed to any TV, and top-tier raiders becoming the go to celebrity A-listers - life is the best it's ever been for gamers. However, as is the tragic fate of any golden age, disaster sits just beyond the horizon.

The Old Republic online had been in development for years, and with the Star Wars IP it was being heralded as the fabled ''Slayer of Nightsong. Most scoffed at the idea to begin with but when celebrity guild leader Draconis signs on with BioHazard instead of renewing with Whiteout, an uproar ensues.

Now, for the first time since Nightsong's released ten years prior, a challenger to the VRMMO throne may unseat it. If only those who were flocking to the new game knew just what was in store.

(I'm drawing inspiration from SWTOR, WoW and SAO for some elements of the story but you don't have to be familiar with any of them to read. Plot and characters will be completely different except for maybe a few mentioned NPCs)
