Originally, this was on my Deviantart account (and still is) with the following blurb: "This is the introduction to the prelude of my Star Trek fan fiction/RPG called Star Trek: Timelines. Currently, the RP is inactive, but I couldn't help but post this up anyway, because it's something that everyone seems to like. I Was reminded of it from my recent visit to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, which is the home of time. Anyway, this is something that I've written off the top of my head, more or less. I hope that you appreciate it as much as everyone else has done..." One thing I will add is that I do eventually want to bring this extract into a new setting (non-Trek, but influenced by Trek and other sci-fi), as well as the other parts of STT, though I will probably need to bring together everything I wrote in as part of it, as well as some other things too (plus other ST fanfic/RP stuff I wrote ages ago), though right now I'm not entirely sure how to go about this. I may actually copy over some of the other stuff I wrote after this, but it will otherwise be an unfinished story, at least for now. When I do finally get things sorted with my setting, you'll probably find that elements of this will get reused, but will have the Trek bits stripped out. I'm not sure when this will happen though.

The CERN* Laboratory, near Geneva, runs the Large Hadron Collider**: the greatest scientific instrument ever built by man. There are many questions and concerns as to what will be discovered. And now inexplicable things are occurring at CERN. Three researchers are missing: disappeared without a trace. Men of sound mind have seen apparitions. The Collider has brought forth an entity from another dimension that offers answers to the great remaining scientific questions...in exchange for a soul. Word has spread that something diabolical has invaded CERN, which coincides with cataclysmic events taking place in the world. Protagonist Paul Decker teams up with Natasha - a particle physicist, a la Lizbeth Salander*** - to fight the legions of darkness. This may be the ultimate battle of Good vs. Evil, Science vs. God. My story combines physics, the Papacy, the Book of Revelation, the Antichrist, espionage and computers in a way not seen before. *CERN: French: Council European for Research Nuclear ** Hadrons are created by colliding protons or nuclei of heavy elements. ***Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
