It's been a thousand years since the Demonio Wars cracked the fabric of reality and unleashed Hell on Earth. Literally. 24-year-old Aramaya doesn't remember a time when humans were free to roam without fear and she's never once set foot outside the fortified walls of Sanctuary City ... That is, until a silly rite of passage ends up with her on the wrong side of the wall when the warning horns blow. She survives her encounter with a razor-mouthed behemoth, but her little brother Kor disappears and everyone blames Aramaya for his loss. When she can no longer listen to her father cry or her mother scream invectives at her, she slips out of the city to find her brother or die trying. The world outside the walls is no place for a human, and Aramaya no fighter. In her pursuit of the demons who carried away her brother, she trespasses on the lands belonging to one of the nine princes of Hell. Lord Belial himself rides her down and carries her off to his stronghold where she's sure he will torture and kill her--but the prince of Hell is not the monster her people have made him out to be. Aramaya struggles to remember her true purpose for venturing beyond the walls when her feelings for Belial turn from fear to passion.
