Shots were fired, blood was spilt, but not my blood...my fathers. I was told if anything happened like this I would have to go to... Oh god where was it? Oh! NCIS. I had to go and inform them and quick before the attacker comes back to get me.

Two years later there is still no lead on the person who killed Skylar's father. No contact. No clues. Nothing. Until one night, when everything changes *************************************************************************************************

I do not own NCIS or the characters from the tv series.

This is my take on Defending Jacob, a "what if" for if there was a season 2. We all know how the book ends. The tv show is very different this what I thought could happen. Andy has been tormented all of his life. He's constantly covering up his lies. What is this going to cost his family. When Jacob wakes up. Will things slowly go back to normal for the Barber family. Will Andy's need for normalcy drive him to his breaking point. Will Andy cover up his lies with more lies. How will Laurie cope with her memories starting to haunt her dreams. Will the Barber family survive, will they figure out the truth to the unanswered question "Did Jacob really murder Ben or not." It's been 3 weeks since Andy's day in court. The day they voted no bill, the day Andy's nightmares where just beginning. Laurie was about to discharged from the hospital. She didn't want to leave, she begged to stay, to be close to Jacob. Still in his coma for 9 weeks now. Jacob finally opens his eyes. The lights of hospital room felt like they where burning right through his soul. His dad was holding his hand, with tears. Andy said "hey buddy we both here, your ok, your safe now." Jacob started shaking his head back and forth no, as he tried to speak, but no words could escape his mouth. He looked over to his mom scared, but than went back to sleep. Jacob stay that way for the next 3 days going in and out of consciousness. Andy screamed at Laurie, "how could you do that to our family, I'm doing everything to protect you and our family." Slamming the door as he left the new home. Andy had hope the move would be a fresh for all them, away from Newton and the past. Jacob came downstairs wondering why his dad was once again in rage.I

Reliving moments that were just as painful as they were joyous, never rethinking his decisions but watching them rip him apart for a second time. He informs the reporter on moments that tell his version of the story. A story that his wife couldn't tell. Remembering his love for some and his irrational behavior towards others. attempting to teach lessons that he never learned himself. **************** "Vincenzo," she stood over me, "please. Please. Please." I nodded, I looked down at Constance, then I looked back at her. She looks like a bomb ready to detonate, it's over. I stood up and put Constance in his cot, he began to giggle at the sight of the mobile. His fist in his mouth admiring the hanging sea creatures, dolphins, whales, and turtles. I looked back at Evangeline, she was breathing heavily and losing all control. She plopped down on the bed, and I moved from the cot to look at her. Once my feet stood in front of her she took her ring off and threw it at me. It hit my chest. It fell right on my slipper. She was growing with hysteria. Her fingers running through her hair. I was frozen, she was heaving and she fell from the bed onto her knees. She crawled to the corner of the room, in between the wall and the dresser. Her red shirt rubbing against the green walls of the bedroom. Her shoulder grazed the beige dresser, making scratches on her arms and she didn't care. I looked down at the ring sitting on my foot, to my Evangeline. My mouth hung open but I couldn't say anything, the only noise in the room was the scraping of Evangeline's shoulder and the little giggles escaping the cot. My money was on my foot, but my heart split across the room." -Chp 15

"Look, Mr. Hotchner, Agent Hotchner, Hotch, my brother is dead, we've dealt with it already, I have a life, people I need to take care of, the last thing I need to do is throw my family into any unknown water anytime soon bringing this back up," I say, increasing my speed. A hand grips my arm, the same way my mom did Friday morning, causing me to wince and stop my jogging. Hotchner lets go but stares at me, then my arm, noticing the fingerprints left by my mother. Shouldn't have worn a sports bra. "What happened to your arm?" he asks, pointing to the bruise. I look at it then at him, "I work at a club Agent Hotchner, people aren't very nice when a pretty lady says no," The lie falls out so easily it almost makes me laugh. "Right well, that's another thing I want to talk you about, Maddison Crawford?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. I let out a small chuckle, "Took you that long to find out, I mean, my southern accent ain't that good," Hotchner rolls his eyes, waving for me to follow him. "Hotch, I have to get home, I came out for a run, not to talk about my dead brother," He pauses, turning to me, "Tatum, we need to talk, it's serious," I shake my head, "Look Agent Hotchner, I don't care, and that's not just teenage arrogance its facts okay, so your a profiler take a hint, I didn't not open my door because I wasn't able to," #1 FBI
