Alianor's province has fallen into a poverty so deep that taxes cannot be pulled from her people and the castle treasury is all but empty. Her father has decided there is only one option. They must combine their kingdom with another. And the way to do so is, of course, through marriage. But he understands that any good ruler will not take another kingdom under their wing just to be dragged down by this kingdom. This Alianor understands. She can see why her father would plan a very elegant and impressive wedding with no expense spared--however, she cannot understand why he insists on hiring a troubadour to sing at the wedding. Couldn't they impress her future husband in a more effective way?

Now another province has accepted the engagement and is coming to Alianor's palace for the wedding and to meet with her father. Will her father be able to hide the poverty of his country with an extravagant wedding long enough for the marriage to be complete?
