Charlie Davenport believes that honesty is the best policy, making a point to always be truthful with those around her. When the truth hurts, she has a tendency to avoid, or in one particular instance, run away to the other side of the world. Upon deciding to return home for college, she must put the pieces of her life back together, and mend relationships with her family and friends. Unfortunately this comes hand in hand with confronting her replacement who is determined to show her that while honesty may be the best policy, for it to truly work, she has to stop lying to herself.

Charlotte Davenport had all she could ever need, but nothing she ever really wanted. She had to live by the rules and expectations of her rich, controlling father, never allowed to truly be herself. Alex Baker grew up not having anything at all, even the things he needed. He spent his life doing what he could to survive, believing he was meant to be alone, never letting anyone get close. They both left everything they knew behind so they could attend a prestigious Ivy League school and make their dreams come true. Alex was chasing a career as a pro footballer, and Charlotte desperately wanted to stand on her own. The catch? It wasn't the fresh start they hoped for. They already knew each other from high school, and it was hate at first sight. So different, they couldn't help but clash, and college became their new minefield. But fate had other plans for them, and they couldn't escape it. A series of unexpected events unraveled their secrets, forcing them to question everything they thought they knew about each other. Suddenly, the lines got blurry, and with every touch, they hated each other a little bit less...
