Pollution had corrupted the once cleaner air of the world, and now, at birth, children were required to wear masks. As they grew, they would buy newer masks to fit their face. Homes had became sacred shelters that filtered air, but only the middle class and up could afford the luxury of taking the mask off.

He remembered when his father described the night sky with vivid stars that illuminated their scarred Earth. His father was the first generation that was unable to breathe real air without a mask. It was described in ancient stories that the oxygen was sweet and filled your lungs. An airborne virus came into play in 2080, the first one infected was a man of the lower class. It spread, and the way it plagued the mind and caused it to tear and eat through flesh relentlessly earned it the title Z virus.
