Vernon Cooper and his best friend Quinn Kennie live in Providence, Rhode Island. They join a tag-team of rebels who are against the bureaucracy running the town, known only as the Rulesetters. They are led by the Chief, who is the head of the town, and government. It's called the Alliance. Inside it, there are numerous factions who make it up. One of which is the Opposition, the head of the Alliance, and the faction they join. They are sent on a mission to see where peaceful protesters  go after coming face-to-face with the Rulesetters. Rumor has it they are taken to camps, where they are left for dead, which people are calling "Camps for the Ungrateful". They planned a mass attack on the U.S. on July 2, 2076, Americas 300th birthday. On that day, they assassinated the president and began bombing in New York. Unfortunately, Chaos only had about 200 soldiers so they came up with a technology to implant a chip in the nervous system and essentially control them. So basically, each solider could make a civilian a soldier and the civilian would be forced to fight and make soldiers of their own. The whole operation snowballed and everything went according to plan. Unlike in other stories, there is no hope and the only way to survive is though the CPO (citizen protection organization), created by Benjamin Franklin. It's a system of secret subway tunnels, used to evacuate civilians to safely. Out story begins on July 2, 2076 when the first bomb drops. Madalyn Grace and her friends are caught in this apocalypse and must find away to leave.
