Danger

It took me a minute to comprehend what was happening right in front of me. Father and Marcus were in the middle of the grand hall arguing about something.

"You are no son of mine!" Father's dominating voice boomed, making me want to submit to him. Marcus didn't, he stood his ground. I wish I had the strength he did. We're twins for crying out loud. Marcus looked over at me, his eyes glistened, a spark flared in them.

"Mai, my sister, come with me." He said softly, holding his hand out for me to take. There was a promise in his tone. He's breaking the code we have, our family has never been separated. Hunters stick together and he wanted to break that. Something about him was different. I swallowed, looking over at my father, mother began to descend the stairs as I walked towards my brother.

"Mai, no." Father said, still using the dominant tone. I tensed , but continued walking towards my brother. I reached out and put my hand in his.

That's when Mai's life changed forever. Going with her brother. Leaving her life and her family behind. Mai was a hunter. She wasn't strong like her brother. She was weak minded. Ill willed. She went with her brother, hoping he'd help her become a better, stronger hunter. Until she met him.
