Evellis Marie Perez has been through so many difficulties. At age six, Evellis was taken away from her loved ones. Suffering for six years in her kidnappers hands, she managed to escape after nearly being beaten to death.
Upon being discovered on the side of a road Evellis was taken to a nearby hospital. There she reunites with her father and receives the news of her mother's death. Her father, remarried two years after her mother's death, blames Evellis for the death of his wife. Evellis falls into a deep depression.
Evellis was an only child until she joined her father’s new family: a wife, two step-brothers and a step-sister. Having a family could have been good for Evellis except that two of her new siblings did nothing but show hate towards her. Her father’s wife was no help at all. With Evellis being reserved, traumatized, and rarely talkative, she has only one person to lean on, her step-brother Calvin.
After four years of trying to get her life back to normal, her life takes another turn when her family, or more specifically her father, accepts a promotion, and they all move back to where it all started for Evellis. Do you ever think sometimes things happen for a reason? So could the result of the move be meeting Jace (Johnathan) Daniels? Until then Evellis thought her life had ended. She could not see the possibility that her life was just beginning. Could she overcome her fears and the many obstacles she had built to protect herself?
