I would bet none of you have ever had that dream summer that all of us want.... that summer where you meet a boy on the beach and go surfing even though you don't know how to surf. You know the old saying fake it til you make it? Well my best friend took that a little too seriously. Caitlyn came up with a crazy scheme to help me finally get the guy I had been crushing on for three years. Her plan was a little unorthodox to say the least. She decided that her and her boyfriend Colton should stage a break up so I could pretend to date him for a month. He was the quarterback of the football team and the most popular guy in school. She said dating him would make the guys at our school finally stop seeing me as a shy, undateable nerd. She said I would have my pick of any guy after that, including my crush Takashi. It was the most ridiculous plan I had ever heard of. There was no way anyone would actually believe me and Colton were dating. He was the quarterback of the football team. It would have probably been easier to convince the whole school that I was dating the President. The problem was, I knew she was right. It was probably the only way I could get Takashi (my crush) to see me as girlfriend material and I wanted that more than anything in the world. Plus, Caitlyn's crazy schemes usually worked and I was desperate, so I reluctantly agreed to it. Gatherer of Stalks of Barley is from the Tribe of Soft Birds Singing. Tail of a Slender Minnow is from the Tribe of Rushing Water. Barley never believed that he'd love anybody besides one of the pale girls of his tribe with vibrant white hair like him and eyes like sapphires. Minnow never believed that she'd love anybody besides one of the people in her forest with hair like the dark of night and olive skin. Yet they saw each other one day, down at the river, and nothing was ever the same. This is a novella/short story broken up into 25 chapters and an epilogue. The approximate word count is 10,000. I will work on a cover and on publishing the different parts shortly. I just believe that it's funny the things that you can write in class when you're bored in high school.Complete
