Blog of a Teenage Superhero
"Who are you?" the supervillain asks. His breathless voice is surprisingly soft. I slam my hands on either side of him, leaning in so close my nose touches his mask. I'm the taller one. "It's 'Please Don't Kick My Sorry Butt,' but you can call me 'Too late, I Already Did.' " And I have to admit, that one I'm a little too proud of. ***Hey, hey! Now a Wattpad featured story!*** The superheroes are gone. For as long as Monet can remember, a league of superheroes has guarded her city. They were the citizens' idols, guardians, and best friends. Then, only months ago, those same heroes poofed, leaving the population at the mercy of a supervillain known as 'Masquerade.' As teen reporter and self-proclaimed defender of truth, justice, and the American way, Monet Jackson vows to do anything to find the heroes. And that "anything," unfortunately, includes taking a dip in a vat of toxic chemicals, being fired, and being hunted by Masquerade himself. THIS BOOK TAKES PLACE AFTER 'BLOG OF A TEENAGE SUPERHERO'. You don't have to read that book first to understand the events that unfold in this one, but this story will spoil all the major plot twists in BoaTS. *** What makes a supervillain? After escaping prison, ex-supervillain Masquerade is on the run from the city he used to love. But the past, in the form of a boy he hurt and a superhero who saved him, won't let him go. He thinks if he joins the organization that wants to destroy "mutated monsters" like himself and the supers he used to terrorize, then maybe he can be made human again. Flawed logic, sure, but Masquerade would do anything to escape the person he's become. Tending to hide behind all the chaos that is high school. She's extremely clumsy, is as blind as a bat, and has a bad case of word babble. But what you don't know about her is that she's a world famous Superhero. The perfect timing (In Editing)
I'm not like wonder woman, supergirl or catwoman. The only similarity we share is that we all have an extraordinary ability and are females. Many people would say having superpowers was a gift from god and the best thing that could ever happen to you. But not for me, being able to freeze time was more of a burden, because I couldn't control it and it had the worst timing to appear. I also didn't think about being a superhero and rescuing the world from the bad. The only thing I want is to be left alone and get over with my last year of high school. Starting Over
This was never meant to be my life. My life had been decided when I was 14. But 20 years later, it was completely undecided by circumstances I had less than no control over. So at 34, I started over, hesitantly. *Note 1: Both the narrator and "He" remain unnamed. "He" is based on an actual actor (some major fantasy-fulfillment happening here), but I wanted to leave the character open to reader interpretation rather than limit the scope of the story or the reader appeal. *Note 2: For now, this is going to be more an anthology of connected one-shots that exist within the same universe; they may or may not follow chronological order. They may eventually be reorganized into novel-format, but that would be quite a way down the road.Complete
