Haley didn't think she'd meet him in a nasty BP station so late. Or that he'd spill coffee on her. Honestly, she didn't know what charmed her the most: the sleazy apology or the soggy jumper. But hey, there she was.

xx-xx

It all started with a coffee and a much-needed break from driving. The coffee had been disgusting. It was the type of coffee you could only find at crappy BP stations you stumble across whilst you're riding at night and desperately in need to pee because it's been four hours since the last stop.

Hanna had no idea where they were headed, but she was excited to find out. Blake traveled the same path as the night before and seemed to be taking them to Kansas City once more. What was there to do on a cold day in Kansas City? Blake turned the Lexus left, down into an underground parking garage. She had no idea where they were. It had been a while since she had traveled into Kansas City so everything looked new to her thanks to all the construction that's always happening here. Even her old apartment building had been knocked down and revamped. "So, you brought me to an underground parking garage? Thrilling! I love modern architecture!" Hanna said with a joking tone, turning towards Blake. Blake laughed. "We're almost there, I promise. Just a short walk, and you'll know exactly where you are." Hanna cleared her through to respond through a half cracked smile: "You know, I've known you for all of maybe twenty-four hours and you're bringing me to an underground parking garage. Should I call for back up or have the police on speed dial?" Blake whole heartedly laughed at Hanna's question and replied: "Calm down, I'm not a murdered, I'm an attorney, remember? Besides, we'll be out of this parking garage soon, I promise." After finding a parking spot, Blake jumped out of the car and ran around to open Hanna's door, and then laces his fingers through hers as he led her around to the front of the building. Hanna felt herself grip Blake's hand a little tighter as they passed a homeless man sleeping next to the wall just before they stepped out of the parking garage. Reminding herself that she feels safe with him and noticing that she almost had an "at-home" feeling when they touched.

[Watty 2025 Winner] [Slow Brew Series 1 of 2] [Completed] Look, I didn't mean to embarrass myself the first time I walked into Brewing Grounds. Or the second. Or...every other time since. But something about the place-and the barista with the messy ponytail and the glasses that she pushes up her nose-makes me forget how to form actual sentences. Bea. Her name's Bea. She spelled mine wrong on my cup the first day (Ell-yot Hayul), and now I'm kind of obsessed. Not with her. With medium lattes. With her handwriting. With the little hearts she scribbles on my cups. Okay... maybe a little bit with her. The point is: I'm a walking disaster around her, and I'm pretty sure she knows it. And okay, maybe I started showing up every morning at exactly 7:30 just to see her. And maybe I've been reading up on how to flirt because I thought that might help (it hasn't). But honestly, what's the worst that could happen? I embarrass myself again? (Already done that.) Spill coffee on my tie? (Happened last week.) Accidentally fall in love with the barista who writes flirty notes on my coffee cups? Oh, wait... COMPLETED✅ Two high school teenagers finding themselves, analyzing this ever changing world, and building love. This is the type of love you wish you found in high school but probably know way too well that it only exists as fiction. Today I'm turning my fiction to reality. ❣️•••❣️ Excerpt: Just as I was about to seek shelter under some building's roof, the tires of a car come to a halt, I wonder who might pity the lonely girl walking in the rain. The passenger window rolls down, and I spot the most unexpected person seated behind the wheel. "Get in" comes out his voice, and I must've stood there agape for a few moments because next comes his rhetorical question. "Are you getting in or continuing walking in the rain?" Eyebrows raised expectantly. He sounds annoyed, like he regrets his decision to ever stop and help me. ❣️•••❣️ #5 in cynical #2 in loveandfriendship #1 in opinionated #4 in ihatelife #10 in nerdgirl #10 in HighschoolRomance #26 in GoodGirlBadBoy *contains mature themes. *contains cursing.
